On an overcast day, Team Jamaica won two of the first three relays - the first time they've crossed the finish line first in two races at this event -before the Americans regrouped to win the final tworaces.

Johnson is a seven-time USA hurdles champ outdoors and was World Champion outdoors in the 110-meter hurdles in 1995, 1997, 2001, and 2003 and indoors at the 60-meter hurdles in 1995, 2003, and 2004. Alan Webb, who had the fastest 1500-meter (3:30.54) and mile (3:46.91) times in the world in 2007, will run his first track race of 2008 at the Drake Relays in Des Moines on April 26. A year ago, he ran a virtually solo 3:51.71 at Drake to break Steve Scott's 25-year-old meet record. That 3:46.91 we mentioned, run in Belgium last summer, broke Scott's longstanding American record. Webb also ran the world's second fastest 800 in 2007, a 1:43.84. He was the USA 1500-meter champion in 2008 (3:34.82) and also won the mile at the Reebok Grand Prix in New York in 3:52.94.

At the age of 18 I was applying to colleges and, though I wanted to stay in the Pacific Northwest, I also knew that I had to get out of Boise, ID. Boise had been my home for 15 years and while it was a great place to grow up, I needed a change of scenery and wanted to see what life was like in other cities. However, returning to Boise has always been extremely important to me. This Friday I will be going home for the weekend and this got me thinking about why I return home every few months.

After 84 years of tireless service to the New York faithful, the "House that Ruth Built" will give way to a brand-spankin'-new stadium, set to begin its tenure in 2009. Most people don't know that the old Yankee Stadium, as it will soon be called, was intended to be a multi-sport stadium. The field was initially surrounded by a quarter-mile running track, which effectively also served as a warning track for outfielders, a feature now standard on all major league fields. The left and right field bleacher sections were laid out at right angles to each other and to the third base stands, to be properly positioned for both track and field events and football.
